Introduction

In the summer of 1991, I began researching my direct ancestors, with my mother's help  and in consultation with some family members. To keep the task manageable and minimise the cost, I concentrated on direct  ancestors, ignoring other family members such as great aunts, uncles, cousins etc., except where these help to fill in some detail or for recent relatives for whom details are already well-known.

Sources

Records of all Births, Marriages and Deaths were stored centrally from from 1 July 1837. Copies of all Census Returns from 1841 to 1901 are available via the internet.

Codes

Each ancestor has been allocated a code e.g., P7. This is a genealogical convention to avoid confusions, especially if several ancestors share the same name. The letter part identifies the generation, with the current generation (in this case mine) being allocated “S”. So, my parents' generation is ”R”  and my grandparents' is “Q”.

Presentation

The COX, BINDER, FRANCIS and MACK families are shown separately. There is a data sheet for each direct ancestor that summarises the information obtained. Each married woman is recorded by her maiden and married names. Other people linked to the families are shown separately.

This web site includes several tree diagrams to show the relationship of each person to the other family members.

Abbreviations used in the data sheets:

 MC = Marriage Certificate

 BC = Birth Certificate

 DC = Death Certificate

 IGI = International Genealogical Index (maintained by the Mormons)
