• Checked Births from 1841 to 1852 inclusive. Found four infants of a similar name, one of whom had a father named John and would also have been over 21 in 1868, as stated on her MC.
• Obtained BCs: Mary Ann Chubb b. Dec. 1847 St. Pancras ref. 1.338 - cannot find the copy of this BC. / Mary b. 2 July 1846 Stepney ref. II.506 - father John, so possibly correct. / Mary b. 28 February 1843 Islington - father Morris, so incorrect.
• Checked MCs for Mary's parents from 1837-1847 inclusive. Found a few possibilities, but it is difficult to know which BC to obtain because her mother’s name is not known. Need to find the BC of a sibling of Alice Elizabeth KNOWLTON to be sure.
• Found family in 1851 census return at 30, Clark Street, Stepney.
• Still unsure I have the correct Mary CHUBB. On her MC her father's trade is "Dealer" whereas on her BC and in this census return he is shown as "Inland Revenue Clerk".
